For every wonderful thing in this world, there is an equally awful counterforce somewhere else. The Chinese call it the Yin and the Yang, Star Wars calls it the Light Side and the Dark Side, and Newton called it his third law. The rest of us can call it juxtaposition, and there is plenty of it to go around.

One photo here shows a street hosting an "Earth Day" run, and hundreds of used water cups strewn across it. Now I'm sure there will be a crew that comes and cleans up the cups, but mass littering is hardly the way to celebrate helping the planet. Why does it always seem like charities are more about their events than their causes?
